Hey, You Know What? The Bulls Look Pretty Darn Good If You Only Watch the Highlights

Chicago Bulls

I miss Chicago Bulls basketball.

Yes, that’s right. I miss being enraged by double-digit deficits in the first quarter and floored by ridiculously called timeouts in the final seconds of an obvious loss. No, these may not have been the best days of our collective Bulls fandom, but I’d gladly take them over no basketball at all. Besides, as painful as this season turned out to be, it not only led to the much-needed organizational overhaul we’ve seen here in the last few weeks, it also had a handful of exciting moments.

Whether it was Coby White dropping seven 3-pointers against the New York Knicks in the 4th quarter, Zach LaVine hitting a game-winning fadeaway 3-pointer against the Hornets, or simply Daniel Gafford posterizing an unsuspecting soul … the pre-suspension 2019-20 season had its moments.

If you’re missing the crew like I am, give this a watch (don’t worry, all plays that provoke the sudden urge to drop-kick an adorable teddy bear have been removed):

Hey, the Bulls don’t look too bad!

Of course, we could make [insert whatever movie you find to be absolute trash here] look good too if we edit it down to only five minutes. Nonetheless, it’s fun to be reminded of what this team could do at its best. In fact, it makes the mind feel just a bit more optimistic about what this young roster can accomplish with a state of the art front office and a fresh head coach.

Oh, and did anyone realize how good everyone on this team is at dunking? I mean, even the guys like Tomas Satoransky and Chandler Hutchison can provide a ferocious slam when they need to. I don’t think this is necessarily an area the team can try to exploit, but, who knows, maybe a faster more efficient offensive system will lead to even more rim-rocking plays.

This compilation also reminded me how fun the Bulls-Thunder game was at the end of February. After going down 23-6 in the first quarter, the Bulls were able to battle back thanks to an offensive explosion from White and LaVine. Sure, they ended up losing the game, but there were some pretty insane buckets made throughout that game.

You know what, while you’re at it, you might as well watch the highlights from that game as well:

Anyway (and this may just be the lack of basketball speaking), things could be worse! The Bulls still gave us some fun times, but let’s hope they give us WAY more in 2020-21.
