As we discussed in the bullets earlier this morning, Brett Brown’s time as head coach of the 76ers had run its course. Now, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Brown has officially been relieved of his duties in Philadelphia.
The organization will reportedly look to restructure the front office, with general manager Elton Brand leading the way.
Brown’s dismissal is expected to be a precursor for more upheaval with the 76ers, whose senior leadership – including general manager Elton Brand — will begin exploring changes in the front office structure, sources said. https://t.co/iQtX3EGO9t

With the Chicago Bulls in the midst of a coaching search of their own, this situation is certainly worth keeping an eye on. While the immediate names surrounding the head coach vacancy – Clippers assistant Tyronn Lue, Villanova’s Jay Wright, Former-Kings head coach Dave Joerger, and current 76ers assistant Ime Udoka (via The Athletic) – do not heavily coincide with the names on the Bulls list, it may not stay that way.
And to be sure, Udoka is one of the most popular names on the Bulls list and there is now a clear threat his own organization could offer him a promotion in the coming weeks. If Karnisovas wants Udoka in Chicago next season, he may have to be a little more proactive with Philly officially in the mix.
I guess we should also briefly discuss Brett Brown as a potential Bulls candidate. Apparently an extremely well-liked individual in coaching circles, I will not be surprised if Brown earns another gig down the road. With that said, I don’t see a marriage between him and Chicago right now, even if GM Marc Eversley worked closely with him over the past several seasons. Perhaps Brown steps foot into the interview room (never hurts to interview all candidates to pick their brain – especially those with head coaching experience), but he doesn’t necessarily offer the “fresh” feel for which this organization appears to be striving. Not to mention, if he struggled to motivate some of the young talent in Philly, I’m not sure Chicago is the best landing spot.
On a slightly different note, the Bulls may have gotten lucky by hiring Marc Eversley when they did. With the 76ers front office in store for a shakeup, there is a good chance the highly-respected Eversley could have been in store for a promotion too (was vice president of player personnel for 76ers from 2016-2019).
