Cliche Alert: The grind never stops for Coby White.
The Bulls second-year guard has shown nothing but hard work and dedication to honing his craft since joining the organization, and we were reminded of that after setting a career-high for him against the Sacramento Kings. White looked too fast and too talented for the team to handle, as he posted a career-high 36 points in one of his most efficient scoring performances of his career. How did the guard celebrate this accomplishment? Easy … he didn’t.
While some (like myself) might decide to devour a cake that has 36 written in Oreos on the top, White decided to hit the weight room. In fact, this seems to be his routine after every Bulls game, even after those where he might deserve some extra rest.
It’s just kind of what I prefer. Some dudes like doing it before the game. Some dudes like doing it on practice days. I just prefer to do it after the game. I feel like that’s how my body works. It’s just what I do.
White spoke to the media about his postgame swole sessions after Garrett Temple spilled the beans only a couple of minutes earlier. Here is what the veteran had to say after The Athletic’s Darnell Mayberry asked for his impressions of the explosive guard.
Loving it, man. Loving it. I was just lifting with him after the game. This guy plays 40 minutes tonight and after a back-to-back, and he is lifting weights as well.
White said he and Temple are both frequent visitors of the weight room after games, and Wendell Carter Jr. also to join the club after last night’s loss. Ya gotta love the commitment to getting big, especially after a back-to-back.
