That must be some nasty quad contusion (bruise), because Wendell Carter Jr. is out for a second consecutive game. Sigh.

Obviously, it very well could be more serious than it sounds, but every game Carter Jr misses is particularly disappointing. I know so many of his setbacks have been flukey (this was a mid-practice collision with Denzel Valentine), but we’re just constantly reminded of his inability to stay on the court. And that’s really frustrating, especially when he’s played well and the Bulls are kind of in a nice rhythm overall.
At the same time, the Bulls next game (Wednesday) has already been postponed. So by sitting out tonight (his third straight absence) Carter Jr. is actually buying himself a pretty lengthy rest while missing just one more game. Hopefully, that does enough to keep him on the court when he does heal up. Because while Daniel Gafford has stepped up in his absence and Otto Porter Jr. could soon return, as well, the starting lineup and bench depth is greatly reduced without Carter on the floor.
So let’s heal that quad up, eh?
