RELEASE. THE. HOUNDS. TRADES.
Trade deadline day has officially arrived, and while things have been very quiet thus far, Yahoo Sports’ Keith Smith reports that it should not be that way for long. A front office executive said the tide has turned, and that more big-name players have become available than initially expected:
I had a front office executive tell me two weeks ago he thought it would be a quiet deadline. "Too many teams in the mix this year."
Today? "It's going to be really busy. Things changed fast. Big names being available that we didn't expect changed everything around the league."

How big is big? Good question, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the 23-year-old Lauri Markkanen is an example of that quick-changing trade market. After all, it was only two days ago that we learned the Bulls were listening to offers on the big man, and it was just last night that we learned they may have started to initiate those talks. The embarrassing loss probably didn’t slow anything down on that front …
I’m still skeptical of whether or not we will see Chicago make an impact move today, but I do feel like the chances of it happening are at least a tiny bit higher if the market is as busy as Smith implies. Er, at least, I sure hope that’s the case, because I’m ready for some trade craziness!
LET’S GOOOOOOOOOO. NOW.
