What to Watch For …
• The Chicago Bulls were on the brink of catching a Shaq-sized break tonight with both Clint Capela and Danilo Gallinari listed as questionable on the injury report. However, both were upgraded to active shortly before the game, which makes tonight’s contest a much more interesting affair. Gallinari is a versatile threat that can sink some big buckets, while Capela is one of the league’s top lob threats. Capela also provides great length, averaging the third-most blockers per game and the most rebounds per game. Fortunately, the Bulls have the sixth-best rebounder in the league to counteract Capela’s attack, so we should see a good fight tonight on the glass.
• The Bulls have played the Hawks once so far, and it was the very first game of the season where they lost 124-104. A big reason for that blowout was – duh – bucket-getter Trae Young. The third-year guard torched the Bulls for 37 points, and with some big-time help sidelined tonight, there is no question he’ll look to do it again. I’ll be interested to see the approach Chicago has on defense. Considering how well he played on Kyrie Irving, I expect to see a good chunk of minutes handed to Troy Brown Jr. tonight. Good luck!
• Coby White and Lauri Markkanen have looked comfortable in their new roles over the past two games, and I expect that to continue against this Hawks bench that has the worst field goal percentage in the league.
• The Hawks attempt the 4th-most free-throws per game, and we all know fouling can be a problem for this Bulls team. If things don’t go Chicago’s way tonight, I’d make sure to check that category in the box score.
• Hopefully, we don’t see some tired boys.
#Bulls stayed up until 2 a.m. this morning (yesterday, basically) conducting COVID-19 testing so they could get more sleep today as they're amid a stretch of 4 games in 5 nights, Billy Donovan says.
