We get our fair share of workout montages and “look how beefed-up I am” photos during the offseason, but rarely do we get a closer look at an extended gym workout.
Jordan Lawley has worked with Zach LaVine for years, and the basketball trainer recently published an extended look at LaVine’s workout with new teammate Alex Caruso on his YouTube channel. The 15 minutes video shows the two Bulls players working through a number of different on-court exercises with plenty of fun back-and-forth banter along the way.
LaVine, duh, looked just as electric as ever. The NBA’s 7th-leading scorer last season hit practically every single one of his dribble moves and jumpers with ease. Meanwhile, Alex Caruso looked equally locked-in, flashing even more quick-trigger bucket-getting than we are used to seeing. Of course, we probably shouldn’t expect anything different in an open gym environment, but it is still encouraging to get a closer look at his offensive offseason work. While the Bulls will rely heavily on Caruso’s talented, high-energy defensive play, they would surely benefit from some added offense in the second unit. After all, Coby White could miss the start of the season due to his shoulder injury, and the Bulls bench is void of proven offensive playmakers.
Anywho, no matter the length, it’s always silly to read too much into workout clips. It’s mostly just fun to watch two new teammates put in the extra work behind the scenes, as well as murder a few rims in the process.
If you watch the video for anything, make it the LaVine and Carushow dunks.
