A half-ass apology.
A shrug emoji.
No statement at all.
Literally, anything would have been better than the bizarre statement the Milwaukee Bucks released on Sunday night in support of Grayson Allen and against the NBA’s decision to suspend him for one game following his reckless actions on Friday night.
Take a look:

I know, I can’t believe my eyes either.
If anything, the NBA’s decision on Allen was considered far too LIGHT given the severity and dirtiness of the play in question. So coming out against that minuscule 1-game suspension sure is something. It goes well beyond standing behind your player.

But we don’t have to beat around the bush of what that something is: That statement, doubling down on their support of Grayson Allen, is a remarkably classless move by the Milwaukee Bucks organization.
Even the NBA, who handed out a particularly weak suspension given the circumstances, made it clear that the play was unacceptable, labeling it “unnecessary and excessive” in their statement of the suspension. But the Bucks have gone and publicly decreed that they disagree with that, effectively condoning the actions that led to a broken wrist and surgery for Alex Caruso. Unreal. And incredibly bizarre.
