The Chicago Bulls guard depth became that much weaker earlier this week, when rookie Ayo Dosunmu was placed in the NBA’s concussion protocols. The guard suffered two hard hits to the noggin in last Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers, and he didn’t feel the full effects until after the Bulls played the Suns on Monday.
He was quickly sidelined and ruled out for Wednesday’s game in Charlotte, but it appears that could be the only game he has to miss. The interim starting point guard recently spoke with Stacey King on the Gimme the Hot Sauce Podcast, and he provided a positive update on his recovery.
“I feel good,” Dosunmu said. “I just finished running. Took a test earlier, I passed it โฆ hopefully everything goes well and Iโll be back soon.”
It sure seems like “soon” could be tonight. According to the latest official injury report, Dosunmu has been upgraded to questionable for tonight’s game with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Reporters also caught a glimpse of him on the floor at this morning’s shoot-around.
Considering that he is easily this team’s best on-ball defender at the moment, getting him back on the floor for a tough contest against explosive second-year guard Anthony Edwards would be a big boost to the Bulls chances.
So here’s hoping for the best.
