Look, they tried.
We can’t sit here and question the Chicago Bulls’ effort. They outrebounded Philly 48-38, including a 14-8 performance on the offensive glass. They pushed the pace in transition and grabbed 16 points in the fastbreak compared to the 76ers’ 12. DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine combined for a solid 47 points, and the team also got a much-needed 19 points from Coby White in the second unit.
All things considered, it was a decent competitive showing … but it wasn’t enough. And that’s the simple moral of the Bulls’ recent story: They just don’t have enough. Not enough experience. Not enough healthy talent. All we can do right now is hope those who are healthy – particularly the team’s “Big 3” – learn from this grueling stretch, and those who are working their way back to the floor can return 100 percent and play like we know they can.
Is that a super satisfying stance right after the team drops their 5th-straight game and falls just .5-game from the fifth seed? Probably not, but it’s the one I can’t help but take for now.
Feels like a timely share.
Not all the Bulls' woes can be chalked up to the absence of Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso, but it's undoubtedly a factor.
Took a look at just how drastically some things have changed since both left the floor ⬇️https://t.co/AIv4um8Yxd
