It’s going to be a long couple of months for Bulls fans as they await clarity on the future of Zach LaVine (here’s the latest rumors and reports, in case you missed it).
The unrestricted free agent has said recently that he will be heading into free agency with eyes wide open, and Bulls insider K.C. Johnson recently wrote that LaVine’s return to Chicago is not the slam dunk it was once considered. Reports like Johnson’s or clips like LaVar Ball’s recent interview are something that Bulls fans will have to get used to and take with a grain of salt.
It’s also something that LaVine is going to have to deal with.
When simply trying to get into his car after having dinner with his wife last night, LaVine was hounded by a TMZ reporter for something that he could spin into legitimate reporting on LaVine’s free agency. LaVine was asked why he was in Los Angeles, to which he calmly replied that he lives in L.A. and has for quite some time.
When the reporter brought up LaVar Ball’s prediction that LaVine might be heading to the Lakers, the two-time All-Star laughed it off, and when asked if there were anything he’d like to say to Lakers fans … LaVine replied that he’s “always been a big fan.”
That’s it. Thirty-two seconds of LaVine playing it cool and giving the reporter generic answers and chuckles as he made his way to his car. That’s all it was despite the TMZ story stating that LaVine’s response “was enough to give fans a glimmer of hope.”
All right. Cool. Let’s make sure that we keep things in perspective throughout this process.
