Dalen Terry keeps saying all the right things.
On draft night, the No. 18 pick told reporters that after his initial workout with the Bulls, he informed his agent that Chicago was “where I need to be.” Fast forward a handful of days to his introductory press conference, and the 19-year-old was the one with the question, “who else wouldn’t want to be here?”
This excitement to wear red only continued in Terry’s recent appearance on the Bulls Talk Podcast. While discussing the team’s rich history with NBC Sports Chicago’s K.C. Johnson and Rob Schaefer, the rookie made it known that he’s done his research:
“I’ve watched so many hardwood classic and all that. I’ve been watching The Last Dance ever since I got drafted again. I’ve watched that like 10 times already. I watched it this morning while I was getting my hair cut. Being in an organization like this, you’re just happy to be here, and I hope I have a long long journey here.”
Terry only upped his viewing total of the 10-part documentary series in a recent tweet, joking that his obsession with The Last Dance has made walking into the building extra special:
I know it sounds a bit meathead-y, but how can you not love this energy from the team’s newest roster member? While it’s always nice to see a player show respect for their franchise, it means that much more coming from an NBA newbie who wasn’t even born when the Bulls reigned supreme.
Glad to have you in Chicago, Terry!
