Ja Morant made headlines earlier this month after making quite the declaration: “I would have cooked him,” he said.
Who’s him? Oh, just six-time champion and undeniable GOAT Michael Jordan.
While Morant laughed off the statement, he doubled down and claimed he believes nobody could take him one-on-one. The franchise star of Jordan’s old squad, Zach LaVine, says otherwise.
“I wish I had Ja’s confidence,” LaVine joked when asked about Morant’s comment by TMZ Sports.
Fresh off signing the most lucrative contract in Chicago Bulls history, TMZ briefly spoke with LaVine on the street. Providing one short answer after another, LaVine couldn’t help but finally chuckle when asked about Morant’s words: “I think it’s all just love and fun at the end of the day. You’re talking about stuff that you’ll never know because you’ll never get to play him,” LaVine said.
But when asked to clarify who the two-time All-Star would take in a one-on-one matchup, LaVine knew it was an absurd question to even put into the universe: “Come on, man” LaVine replied, “Michael Jordan, man. He’s the best of all time.”
Thank you for being a reasonable and smart man, Zach. You truly are a Chicagoan.
