Javonte Green Sat Out of Friday’s Practice With a Hip Injury

Chicago Bulls

Head coach Billy Donovan informed reporters on Friday that Javonte Green did not participate in practice due to a hip injury.

While it’s always noteworthy when someone has to take the day off, we have no reason to believe this injury is anything severe as of now. If anything, the Bulls are inclined to take a more precautionary approach with any bumps and bruises now that the regular season is less than a week away.

On the flip side, it’s undoubtedly scary to see someone as important as Green sustain an injury so close to opening night. Not only does he look ready to take the next step as a two-way role player this season, but he potentially won the starting power forward job with his stellar preseason play. The Bulls easily put together their best basketball when they had his defensive versatility and energetic off-ball movement in the lineup. And there is no question they could use both to steal a win from Miami on Oct. 19.

Let’s hope Green is back on the practice floor soon!
