According to Cleveland dot com’s Chris Fedor, the Cavaliers’ starting point guard did not travel to Chicago.
All-Star Darius Garland suffered an eye injury during the Cavs’ season-opener against the Raptors. It’s currently unclear how long Garland will have to be sidelined, but he does appear set to sit out tomorrow’s battle with the Bulls.
After averaging 21.7 points and 8.6 assists per game one season ago, there is no question that any game without Garland will be a significant blow for the Cavaliers. Don’t get me wrong, the addition of Donovan Mitchell can surely keep the Cavs’ backcourt afloat, but dodging Garland should help the Bulls in their pursuit of an opening-night victory.
