Today, in “Perfect Metaphors”: The Bulls Pushed Patrick Williams Out of his Comfort Zone.
Several days before their season-opening victory over the Miami Heat, the Bulls took a trip to Six Flags … must to the dismay of Patrick Williams. A recent video that went viral shows the entire team ready to ride a rollercoaster and pleading for the 21-year-old to join them. Off camera, Williams appears to finally give in, which led to quite an enthusiastic response from his teammates.
Check it out:
Williams was later asked about the event before the Bulls’ matchup with the Boston Celtics at the United Center. And the youngster didn’t hesitate to say just how scared he was:
“If it wasn’t the group of guys I was with, I wouldn’t have did it at all,” Williams laughed. “It was fun after, but actually doing it wasn’t that … First of all, I’m terrified of heights. I’m more terrified of rollercoasters than I am of heights. The going up, that part took me out. I really thought I was going to pass out or throw up.”
Williams said that he rode the entire time with his hood tightened around his face and his arms clenched to the bar. He’d only open his eyes after each drop. As a fellow rollercoaster hater, I very much respect this approach.
Anyway, shoutout to CHGO’s Will Gottlieb for putting Williams’ thoughts on camera. You can listen to his full recount of the festivities below:
