The Chicago Bulls announced that Zach LaVine is officially active for tonight’s game against the Charlotte Hornets.
Meanwhile, Andre Drummond will miss his third-straight game with a shoulder injury, while Coby White will sit his second-straight game with a quad injury.
LaVine came into today “questionable,” which is the same designation he’s received ahead of each back-to-back set this season. The organization suggested they would closely monitor LaVine’s playing time early in the year due to offseason surgery on his left knee. Thus far, the two-time All-Star has missed a total of three games, as back-to-backs appeared off the table for the time being.
However, after last night’s win over the Brooklyn Nets, LaVine nor Donovan ruled out the possibility of LaVine playing in tonight’s game. The decision was a pleasant surprise, and I think it’s safe to say that it’s now an even more pleasant surprise.
The Bulls’ offense has struggled to find its groove thus far, and there is no question LaVine’s inconsistent presence in the starting lineup had an impact on that. Let’s hope that tonight’s decision alludes to a more readily available LaVine moving forward. After all, we saw just how impactful he can be last night when he single-handedly outscored the Nets in the 4th quarter.
