Billy Donovan provided us with some positive words ahead of Friday night’s meeting with the Boston Celtics.
The Bulls head coach told NBC Sports Chicago’s K.C. Johnson that everything is “very, very optimistic” on the Lonzo Ball front right now. To be clear, there is still no current timeline for return, but the point guard has seemingly taken steps in the right direction.
More specifically, there is confidence that this surgery has addressed the lingering issue. Donovan told Johnson that Ball is moving “freer” than he did before the operation and that he most recently started running underwater.
I know this may not be the most exciting news since we still have zero clue when Ball will begin true basketball activities, but it is one of the more positive updates we’ve gotten in quite some time. The fact he’s on the right track is undoubtedly good news, and perhaps it only strengthens the case that he can return during the second half of this season.
