The Athletic’s Shams Charania shared on Monday night that Wizards’ star Bradley Beal is expected to miss at least a week with a hamstring strain.
Washington’s leading bucket-getter suffered the injury during Sunday’s 130-119 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.
The injury means that the Bulls will dodge Beal in their meeting with the Wizards on Wednesday afternoon, which could prove to be quite the gift as they try to avoid another four-game losing streak.
Beal is currently shooting a career-high 52.2 percent from the field to start the season. He’s taking fewer 3-pointers and dominating teams inside, currently sinking an absurd 70 percent of his shots at the rim (which ranks in the league’s 96th percentile, per Cleaning the Glass). Prior to his injury this weekend, Beal had really picked up steam with 27.0 points per game over his previous eight contests.
For a Bulls team that is hoping to gain ground in the East (especially on Washington, who sits 1.5 games ahead of Chicago in 11th), this will have to be a game they win on their home floor.
