The Chicago Bulls got some good and bad news on Tuesday.
On the bright side, Alex Caruso practiced fully with the team after missing Sunday’s game in Atlanta. The Bulls’ top defender left their matchup with the Mavericks early after suffering a lower back injury, but he’s now optimistic that he’ll be held to just a one-game absence, per NBC Sports Chicago’s K.C. Johnson.
As for fellow guard Ayo Dosunmu, he looks far more likely to miss some time this week after suffering an abdominal contusion this weekend. Dosunmu fell hard onto Trae Young’s knee after a collision at the rim and was not able to return to the game. Head coach Billy Donovan said his status for tomorrow’s game against the Knicks remains unclear.
For what it’s worth, the official injury report currently lists him as “questionable.”
While it’s certainly good news that Chicago is in a position to have at least one of the two players on the floor tomorrow, they’re undoubtedly at their best when both are in the rotation. Dosunmu also happens to be one of the team’s better individual defenders, and he’s provided a necessary spark in the scoring department during a handful of games this season.
Let’s hope we hear some good news on his recovery over the next 24 hours.
