The NBA officially announced on Thursday night that 11 players have been suspended for their part in an on-court incident that took place during the Magic-Pistons game earlier this week.
Things escalated when Magic big man Mo Wagner shoved Pistons guard Killian Hayes into his won bench while the two chased a loose ball. Pistons player then wrapped up Wagner, who was swiftly punched in the back of the head by Hayes. Wagner has been assessed a two-game suspension without pay, while Hayes received a three-game suspension without pay.
Hamidou Diallo was the only other Pistons player to receive a suspension (one game), but eight other players on the Magic were dealt a one-game suspension. Cole Anthony, RJ Hampton, Gary Harris, Kevon Harris, Admiral Schofield, Franz Wagner, Mo Bamba, and Wendell Carter Jr. will all be suspended one game for leaving the team’s bench during the incident.
Obviously, this will mean that Hayes and Diallo will both be off the floor for tonight’s game at the United Center. Hayes has started the last 24 games for the Pistons, while Diallo has averaged 14.4 minutes a night off the bench.
