Good news and bad news, as our Bulls landed in Paris and talked to the media. Let’s start with the good news – DEMAR DEROZAN IS BACK!
DeRozan has sat out the last four games, but honestly, it felt more like 14. After he was a game-time decision on Sunday, but ultimately sat out, the writing was on the wall for him to most likely play Friday in Paris against the Pistons. Now it’s official. The quad is healthy, he’s been through a quick practice, and he’ll be ready to drop 40 on Detroit.
Now onto the not-as-fun news. If you missed it, Lonzo Ball set Bulls twitter on fire last week posting videos of him not only dunking but also running on a treadmill.
Is the knee finally getting better? Might we get Lonzo back for a possible playoff run and see this team in their complete form? While Friday’s hopes were at an all-time high, after Lonzo talked to the media today, those hopes got brought back down to earth.
Lonzo said he wants to play, but he’s also being realistic: He’s running out of time to ramp up for a return this season.
So while the door isn’t necessarily slammed shut on seeing Lonzo run the point this season, it’s looking less likely every day. It’s great to see him doing more and more as the weeks go by. He’s most certainly improving, and at this point opening night next season is certainly a realistic goal. But after Friday’s optimism, today brought those hopes back down to earth a bit.
