What to Watch For

  • Three games into the Patrick Beverley era and things seemed to be trending in the right direction. A 2-1 record, with a tough loss to a Toronto team that exploited the Bulls biggest roster weakness forcing turnovers and grabbing offensive boards. Then the Pistons game happens and it’s the same old 4th Quarter Bulls all over again. The Bulls went 2-for-16 from the FIELD in the 4th Quarter. DeMar was the only player to make a field goal in the final frame. LaVine finished with 41 points on 14-of-20 shooting, but just 5 of those came in the final frame and he only ATTEMPTED one field goal. That has to change. Outside of DeRozan, no Bull even attempted more than 3 field goals. Detroit outscored the Bulls 29-16 in the 4th and had it not been for a “Chris Webber” moment from Jaden Ivey the Bulls might not have even held on to win. Fix that tonight.
  • It was nice seeing the Bulls shoot efficiently from deep again on Wednesday. They finished 12-for-27 good for 44.4% from three. That was in large part thanks to LaVine’s 6-for-9 performance. Keep hitting threes, and keep getting efficient nights from LaVine, and this Bulls team can play with anyone.
  • I’m interested to see how Vooch responds to the on-court argument with Patrick Beverley. He dismissed it as just normal occurrences between teammates mid-game, but Beverley has really been the only person on this team willing to call anyone out for their performance, especially on the defensive end. My hope is Vooch goes off tonight in an effort to silence some of the outside noise about the incident, but again that’s just a hope.
  • Kevin Durant comes to town tonight! The Suns are finally relatively healthy for the first time since the KD trade and wow is that starting lineup scary. As much as the Bulls need to be concerned with Devin Booker and KD, Deandre Ayton has the potential to go off tonight. The Bulls already like to go small with their new starting lineup, and we know the Bulls don’t have the strongest rim protection. If the Bulls aren’t careful we could see a massive night from the Suns big man.
