Javonte Green Seems to be Trending in the Right Direction

Chicago Bulls

After a bump in the road, Javonte Green appears to be making progress in his recovery.

According to multiple reports out of the Advocate Center, Green has been able to work through non-contract drills that included running and cutting over the past two days. There is still no specific timetable for his return, but there is no question that this is a positive step forward for the valuable role player.

Indeed, the month of March began with a frustrating update on Green’s recovery. Donovan told reporters that he was struggling to move onto the next phase of his rehabilitation due to discomfort when moving laterally. However, with two straight days cutting under his belt, there seems to be real hope that this discomfort has finally subsided.

What we’re waiting to see now is when Green will participate in contact work and how his body initially responds. Considering he has yet to suit up in 2023 and has missed over 30 games, the expectation is that Green will need some extra time doing contact work to fully ramp up.

Not to mention, any return would likely come with a minutes restriction of some kind from the start. The Bulls have less than a month to go in the regular season with just 15 games left on the calendar. The hope is that Green can at least help them compete for a Play-In spot in some of those games, but we’re not out of the woods just yet.
