Netflix released its first extended trailer for their highly-anticipated NBA docuseries on Monday afternoon.
Titled “Starting 5,” the show follows LeBron James, Jayson Tatum, Anthony Edwards, Jimmy Butler, and Domantas Sabonis throughout the 2023-24 season. James’ media brand “Uninterrupted” helped produce the series, while Payton Manning’s “Omaha Productions” also played a role.
While Netflix provided us with a teaser last month, we had yet to see any real footage from the series despite the Oct. 9. air date inching closer. Now, our first real look at the production is here, and I’d be lying if I said my excitement levels didn’t skyrocket!
Take a look:

For as enormous as their platforms are, we don’t see a lot of these five stars off the court. The show seems like it’ll include plenty of intimate moments with family and friends, as well as highlight a lot of the off-the-court training that goes into an NBA season. Maybe we’ll finally learn how LeBron James is still doing this at 39 years old!
What stood out most to me, however, was how freakin’ competitive each one of these players sounded in their interviews. While I think we knew that each star had a clear edge to them, this series looks like it’ll provide a lot more context. I especially can’t wait for all the mic’d-up trash talk!
Also, we can all agree that Anthony Edwards is about to walk away from this as one of the biggest names in sports, right? Not only does he have all the insane highlights needed to turn heads, but his personality is legitimately infectious. He feels like the kind of player who was born to have a camera crew following his every move. Not to mention, this is going to remind everyone how electric he was in the Timberwolves’ run to the West Finals.
So … is it Oct. 9th yet!?
