Joel Embiid has reached new heights.
The Philadelphia 76ers big man has reportedly signed a three-year, $193 million max extension with the organization, per The Athletic’s Shams Charania. Embiid is now locked into Philly for at least the next four seasons and will have a player option for the 2028-29 campaign. He’ll be 34 years old by the time this current deal expires.
Here’s a look at Spotrac’s current estimated breakdown of Embiid’s annual salary:
2024-25 – $51,415,938
2025-26 – $55,224,526
2026-27 – $59,539,200
2027-28 – $64,302,336
2028-29 – $69,065,472 (player option)
Shams Charania notes that Embiid’s new deal is now among the three richest in the history of the NBA. The 30-year-old is now in line for $515.0 million in career earnings, which ESPN’s Bobby Marks labels as the fourth-highest total the NBA has ever seen.
Joel Embiid took to Instagram to reiterate his commitment to bringing a championship to the City of Brotherly Love.
While the price is undoubtedly steep, particularly for someone who has struggled to stay healthy at times, it’s a move Philly had to make. Embiid is an MVP-caliber talent who has already cemented himself as one of the best 76ers in history. And that’s saying something. As long as he’s healthy and in the picture, Philly knows they have a chance to compete at the top of the Eastern Conference.
The 76ers are now locked in long-term with the nucleus of Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and Paul George. Maxey signed a five-year, $203.9 million max deal earlier this offseason, while George joined the organization in free agency on a four-year, $211.6 million contract. Expectations are now sky-high in Philadelphia.
