Chicago Bulls fans will want to pick up a newspaper this morning.
Derrick Rose officially announced his retirement early Thursday morning, and he is doing something special to thank the fans in each of the cities he played in. According to ESPN’s Malika Andrews, the MVP has taken out an Ad in six different papers to share word of his retirement. These papers include the New York Times, Commercial Appeal, Detroit Free Press, Cleveland Plain Dealer, Minneapolis Star Tribune, and the Chicago Tribue.
Rose also made the announcement over social media, showing a glimpse of what newspapers across the country will look like on his Instagram page. Julia Poe of the Chicago Tribune shared an image of what fans from his hometown can expect to see, which includes a heartfelt note from Rose’s mother, Brenda.
What a classy way to hang it up. While Derrick Rose may not have spent much time in some of theses cities, he’s made clear that every step of his basketball journey matters.
