After a limited Day 1 of training camp for Josh Giddey, the new point guard took a step in the right direction.
Billy Donovan shared with reporters today that Giddey participated in contact portions of practice. This comes after the 22-year-old went through zero contact work on Tuesday. We learned on Media Day that he suffered a ruptured ATFL in his ankle during the final game of the Paris Olympics. The recovery period has spanned the last two months, but Giddey ensured during his media availability that he was on the “doorstep” of a return.
All things considered, today’s news backs that up. All eyes now will be on whether or not Giddey can continue to ramp up his work and avoid any setbacks. The Bulls are only six days away from the team’s first preseason game in Cleveland.
In other very fun news, Lonzo Ball was able to take even more contact during today’s run. The point guard ran through his first day of training camp since 2021 on Tuesday and seemingly suffered no setbacks. To be sure, the medical staff will surely monitor his health day by day, but this is a strong start for someone who is attempting the kind of comeback we’ve never seen before!
We also received some nice videos of Patrick Williams putting in some post-practice work. Coming off foot surgery last season, his health was a question mark coming into camp, as well. The freshly paid forward seems to be feeling good.
Let’s keep our fingers crossed for only more good news out of Bulls training camp tomorrow.
