In case you somehow haven’t heard, Lonzo Ball is making his return to an NBA floor tonight. When the Bulls host the Timberwolves for their fourth preseason tilt tonight at the United Center, it’ll be Ball’s first game action in over 1,000 days.
This morning, during the Bulls shootaround, Ball was a full participant. After the shootaround, he briefly met the media and talked about his minutes limit for tonight’s game: “Hopefully it gets up and up, but right now I’m on a 16-minute restriction…so no more than 16. Obviously, it could be less than that, but that’s the number right now.”
Lonzo Ball’s Minutes Restriction
16 minutes sounds about right for Ball. And like he said, it could even be less. It doesn’t really matter how hard you train, everyone needs a little time to adjust to live game speed, and Ball won’t be any different. I wouldn’t be stunned to see him hover around the 10-15 minute mark (not only tonight, but for the foreseeable future as his conditioning comes back/he gets a better feel for how his knee will hold up).
Whether it’s 5 minutes or 15, it’ll just be nice seeing Lonzo Ball back in action for the Bulls.
