The Orlando Magic have found a superstar in Paolo Banchero.
The former No. 1 overall pick has increasingly impressed since entering the NBA in 2022. After winning Rookie of the Year, Banchero went on to earn his first All-Star appearance last season while playing 80 games and leading the Magic to the postseason for the first time since the 2019-20 campaign. Now, entering his third season of pro play, expectations for him and his young teammates are high.
And Banchero looked more than ready to meet those expectations on Monday night. In the first half against the Indiana Pacers, the 21-year-old put up a performance for the record books. Banchero scored a ridiculous 37 points on 13-17 shooting in 20 minutes of action. He also grabbed 7 rebounds, dished 6 assists, and swatted one ball. It was complete and utter dominance from one of the highest-upside players in the game.
According to the NBA, Banchero is only the third player since the late ’90s to record at least 35 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists in a single game. Here are the highlights …
