As the buzzer sounded at the United Center on Wednesday night, the Chicago Bulls ended a nearly two-year drought.
The team’s victory over the Orlando Magic moved the organization to 3-2 on the season. This meant the Bulls advanced beyond a .500 record for the first time since November 2, 2022. Yes, you read that right. The last time the Bulls were considered a winning team came when they started the 2022-23 season 5-4.
If you’re shocked by that information, you’re not alone. K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Sports Network was quick to let Patrick Williams know the fact after the game, and the fifth-year forward’s reaction said it all. Shoutout to Julia Poe of the Chicago Tribune for capturing the moment!
Check out the look on Patrick Williams’ face …
Williams couldn’t even make it through answering the question without clarifying the news with Johnson. On the one hand, I guess I’m glad he isn’t focused on this point. You want players to always be thinking ahead. On the other hand, this should be a matter of motivation for the entire locker room!
Even if the win-loss column isn’t the most important thing this season with a draft pick at stake, you want the young players to act like it is. The team should take pride in the fact that they’ve started the season in this way. Additionally, they should use it as an example of what committing to an identity and trusting one another can do.
