What To Watch For
- Though the injury report is loaded, most of the names on it for the Bulls will be playing tonight thankfully. Matas Buzelis, Coby White, and Lonzo Ball will all be available tonight while Zach LaVine and Josh Giddey are both listed as probable. It’s nice to see after suffering a sprained ankle that Giddey is likely to play both games in this back-to-back. Also, fortunately, Matas Buzelis did not end up breaking his nose but it seems like he might be wearing a mask. Masked Matas can’t be stopped and I won’t be convinced otherwise.
- I can’t get over how awesome Nikola Vucevic looks this year. He just looks like a completely different player and a lot more like the all-star that the Bulls acquired from Orlando. I think part of it is an offseason of putting in a ton of work, but I do think DeMar DeRozan not being around anymore helps him offensively. DeMar and Vooch did a lot of their scoring from the same spots on the court, and with the former now in Sacramento, things have opened up for the big man. Another month like this and I’ll be fascinated to see where Vucevic’s trade stock is.
- I have to shoutout Ayo Dosunmu too for recording his first-career triple-double last night in San Antonio. It was a good night for a lot of the players wearing red, but Ayo was all over the place and played his best and most complete game as a pro. Let’s see some more of that tonight!
- The Pacers come into this one at 9-14, 2-11 on the road, and having lost four straight. They’re not exactly building off that momentum from their fun run to the Eastern Conference Finals last year. They’ve had some injury issues, but a big reason why they’ve been not as good has been Tyrese Haliburton’s slow start. The Pacers’ star guard is averaging just 17 points per game (down from 20 PPG each of the last two years) and is shooting a career-worst 41.5% from the field and 33.3% from beyond the arc.
