What to Watch For
- I’m really excited to see DeMar DeRozan back at the United Center today. I’ll be in attendance for the first time this year and fully plan on giving him the nice round of applause he deserves when he gets introduced. DeRozan’s time here was so strange. Obviously year one started out great with the Bulls being the top team in the East for a part of that season, though when Lonzo Ball went down the wheels fell off. After that, the team was never able to be anything more than a Play-In squad, but DeMar was always so good and so easy to root for. I’m glad he moved on – it was best for both sides. I just really with there was a world in which the team worked out with him here.
- It was pretty clear that while there wasn’t any personal rift between the two, on the floor, DeMar and Zach LaVine weren’t the greatest fit. DeRozan didn’t ever really seem to take a back seat, but LaVine at times clearly did. DeMar leaving I think is one of the primary reasons LaVine is looking a whole lot more like his All-Star self again. Again, not that they didn’t like each other because they did. They just didn’t really fit on the floor together, especially once Lonzo got hurt and wasn’t running the offense anymore.
- I’m really hoping both Coby White and De’Aaron Fox are good to go in this one. Those two are electric players at their best. The last time these two met in March of last year, Coby White dropped his then career-high point total of 37, shot 73% from the field, dished 7 assists, and grabbed 5 boards. Fox recorded a double-double with 20 points and 10 assists. This matchup always has the potential to be a lot of fun, so hopefully they’re both able to go.
