What To Watch For …
- Somehow after this brutal stretch of Bulls basketball, they still sit at 10th in the Eastern Conference and in the final spot of the Play-In Tournament. The Sixers sit two games behind Chicago in the East. While the Bulls have hit their worst stretch of the season dropping six of their last seven, Philly has conveniently been just as bad dropping seven of their last eight, though they did just snap their seven-game skid with a win over the NBA-best Cavs.
- Last time Philly was at the United Center, we got a rare Joel Embiid sighting. That doesn’t appear to be the case tonight. Embiid had some knee swelling last week, so naturally that sidelined him for 7-10 days before being re-evaluated. To go along with Embiid being out, Andre Drummond, Caleb Martin, and KJ Martin are also sidelined tonight. With Drummond and Embiid both out tonight, look for the Bulls to try to make tonight a Vooch night. Vooch should have the significant advantage down low, and after an off night against the Warriors, look for him to try and bounce back tonight.
- Coby White will be out again tonight it looks like which could mean even more minutes for Josh Giddey. Eli pointed it out the other day in bullets, and I think it’s worth noting again. Since December 28, Josh Giddey has nine games with 10 or more rebounds which is already more than the entirety of last season for him. Giddey still has a ways to go to improve his consistency in shooting the ball and defensively, but if he keeps incrementally improving in those areas this season then season one with him here can be considered a success. Yes, the Bulls likely should have targeted 1st Round draft capital instead of Giddey in the Caruso trade, but if Giddey keeps trending in this direction then maybe the deal won’t be a total failure.
