What to Watch For
- So, I guess it’s officially Coby White’s team now? The Zach LaVine saga has finally come to an end in Chicago as he’s been dealt to the Sacramento Kings after years of trade rumors. The return was most certainly underwhelming, but it just feels like it was always going to be. With the new tax apron rules, Zach’s contract was a lot for any team to take on. As the Bulls tend to do, they waited too long to make a decision on LaVine and it cost them. But in the end, they’re now guaranteed their first-round pick this year, and it won’t roll over to the Spurs in the future. So I guess that’s a win? I guess it’s time to cross our fingers and hope for Cooper Flagg!
- Let’s get to the actual game on the floor tonight. The Heat feel like a very tough matchup for Chicago. Bam Adebayo is one of the best big men in the NBA today, and rookie center Kel’el Ware is having a phenomenal season as well. Their size could prevent a pretty large mismatch defensively for Chicago who is currently running with four guards in their starting lineup. On the contrary, the Bulls love to run, and with their smaller lineup that’s where they could look to gain an edge over Miami who’s playing decently well as of late, even without Jimmy Butler.
- It’s not out of the realm of possibility that tonight could be the last game as a Bull at the United Center for Nikola Vucevic or Coby White. Vooch I would think is likely to be moved by Thursday’s deadline, and reports have surfaced that no one on the Bulls is untouchable, which would mean Coby White and his team-friendly deal could be in play. It’s nice that the front office has finally picked a lane. However, it’s hard to not be upset at how long they waited to sell and the minimal returns they’ve gotten back thus far. Having said that, the returns for Vooch and Coby White would likely be the best they’ve gotten thus far.
