Well this kind of came out of nowhere. God is so freaking vengeful.
The Cubs placed Rich Harden on the 15-day disabled list with a back strain on Friday, and inserted Randy Wells into the rotation for Saturday’s game.
Harden felt a twinge in his last outing last Sunday, and in a subsequent side session this week in St. Louis. With Harden’s injury, the Cubs don’t have to make any move with the bullpen to reactive Carlos Zambrano, who starts tonight against Jake Peavy. Hardball.
Harden will be eligible to come back June 2. At least this puts to bed – for the time being – the Sean Marshall or Randy Wells drama. Now they’re both in the rotation.
Here’s hoping Carlos Zambrano is back-back.
