Tired of thinking about the seven-straight-loss Cubs? Prefer to think about the mythical “future” that will some day be? Me, too.
Enter top Chicago Cubs prospect, Josh Vitters.
Josh Vitters smacked his seventh homer in nine games Sunday for low Single-A Peoria.
Forget moving him up to Daytona: how about just bringing him right to the majors? The 19-year-old Vitters is up to .355/.381/.612 with 10 homers in 152 at-bats for the season. That he’s drawn just three walks all year is a bit of a concern, but who can blame him for declining to wait around when he’s hitting like this?

Obviously they’re kidding about bringing him up the majors, but Vitters’ hitting this year has been quite serious. Vitters won’t stick around Peoria all year – at some point he’ll get the call to head up to High-A Daytona, or possibly even AA Tennessee, depending on what the Cubs are able to do with other third baseman currently manning those posts.
