Mini update on the Chicago Cubs’ pursuit of a bat. The one spot in the lineup that could even potentially, realistically be upgraded is second base, and fans have been pushing for the Cubs to make a move on Pittsburgh Pirates’ second baseman Freddy Sanchez.
It is becoming increasingly likely that Sanchez will be dealt, but it is also becoming increasingly likely that he will be dealt… to the San Francisco Giants. The buzz was hot last night that he was already on his way across the dugouts to join the Giants, but some concerns about lingering knee issues held up the deal.
Sanchez was never a particularly attractive option, given his declining skills, right-handed bat, and escalating contract next year.
