Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Ted Lilly, whose return to the team becomes more inconsequential by the day, had a very successful rehab outting yesterday for Class A Peoria. Lilly threw five shutout innings, giving up just two hits and a walk, while striking out two. Of course, that’s probably how it should be, given that he’s facing kids.
The Cubs’ first round pick, outfielder Brett Jackson, must love playing around Ted Lilly. The youngster had three hits, including two homers, and drove in four in the game.
