Aramis Ramirez missed yesterday’s game, after four days off for his ailing shoulder. So it was still the shoulder, right?
Apparently not. It seems Ramirez is suffering from a really bad, um, cold.
Presumably this is a short term issue, unlike his shoulder, which will continue to be a problem for the rest of the season.
Ramirez has missed five games since leaving in the fifth inning Saturday at Colorado because of discomfort in his shoulder. He missed two months after separating the shoulder while diving for a ball in May.
Piniella said Ramirez will have to be his own adviser on how he feels and when he can play for the rest of the season.
”The best way to do this is he’ll let us know,” Piniella said. ”I certainly don’t want to play anyone who is not 100 percent. He knows himself better than anyone else. If he lets us know he needs a day, we’ll give him a day.” CHICAGO SUN-TIMES.
Something tells me that by August, Lou, almost no one is 100 percent.
