Steven Stone for Cubs President?

Chicago Cubs

Steve Rosenbloom really likes other guys named Steve, apparently. That is the only logical explanation for his recent diatribe, forcefully arguing for new owner Tom Ricketts to hire Steve Stone as the Cubs’ new president.

Stone is guy who grew in the Baltimore system, where the philosophy was, if we need more hitting, we’ll get more pitching instead. And I believe he has a lot more self-respect than everybody else at Clark and Addision so that if Carlos Zambrano was going to be lazy, then he would be fined, suspended and/or traded for such stupidity and insubordination. And I don’t think Stone would go shopping for overpaid hood ornaments such as Alfonso Soriano and Milton Bradley.

It might be painful and a little time-consuming at first, but I believe Stone ultimately would build a baseball team, not a freak show.

Steve Stone, when he was a color man with the Cubs, was perhaps the most beloved member of the Cubs’ organization not named Harry. But since his departure, he has become a bitter, twisted shell of the Cubs man he once seemed. His hostile criticism of this year’s Cubs team is not only over the top, but quite often is lacking any real insight. In fact, it’s often totally wrong.
