God’s Wrath Watch: Soriano Finally Having His Knee Surgery

Chicago Cubs

gods-wrathIt was several weeks in the making, but Chicago Cubs outfielder Alfonso Soriano is finally having knee surgery this week.

The Cubs’ outfielder said Sunday that he hopes to have arthroscopic knee surgery on his left knee Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday of this week. The surgery will clean up some fragments that have come loose in his knee area. Dr. Stephen Gryzlo, the team’s orthopaedic surgeon, will do the procedure at Northwestern Hospital. Team officials will meet with team orthopedist Dr. Stephen Gryzlo and Soriano on Sunday in order to map out the surgery and talk about the rehabilitation process.

“I’m going to stay with the team and rehab the knee,” Soriano said. “I’m going to stay with the team trainers, and work on getting the knee strong. Then, I’ll go to the Dominican Republic after the season ends and do a lot of leg work, [and] be ready for next season.” ESPN Chicago.

Soriano was already pretty much toast for the rest of this year. The surgery will clinch that.
