Aramis Ramirez is Done Rehabbing

Chicago Cubs

Chicago Cubs third baseman Aramis Ramirez has been rehabbing from a thumb injury that – apparently – has had a devastating impact on his performance at the plate this year. The rehab took him to the minors for some games, but it must not have been to get his bat back on track. Because he played a whopping two games.

Aramis Ramirez was the DH on Sunday at Class A Peoria in his second rehab game, going 1-for-3 with a walk, an RBI, a strikeout and a run. He went hitless Saturday to finish 1-for-6 for the weekend.

Ramirez will accompany the team to Seattle for this week’s three-game series.

”He’ll let us know how he feels,” Piniella said. ”I would think he’d be activated when his [disabled-list] time is up [Wednesday]. We’ll see.” CHICAGO SUN-TIMES.

Clearly, the rehab stint wasn’t about getting Ramirez reps in front of live pitching, or about allowing him to have success against such live pitching.

The Cubs are 4-6 since Ramirez went to the DL, so it’s not as if his disappearance has been a panacea.
