Some minor transactional news, as the Chicago Cubs have removed utility player Bobby Scales and reliever Blake Parker from their 40-man roster (which now stands at 38). There are likely to be additional moves like this as the offseason proceeds and the Cubs need to clear spots for acquisitions (well, hopefully). They’ll also need to clear room for pitchers John Grabow (sigh) and Angel Guzman, when they are cleared from the 60-day disabled list.
Both Scales and Parker are expected to return to AAA Iowa.
