It’s another set of split squad games for the Cubs today, as half the club heads out to (beautiful) Salt River Fields to take on the Diamondbacks, and the other half stays at Hohokam to take on the Padres. The former game is at 3:10 CT, while the latter is five minutes earlier. Audio for the Cubs/Padres tilt will be available via MLB.com.
The Cubs made a roster move today, by the way, grabbing reliever Shawn Camp, who’d been released by the Mariners. It’s a Minor League deal for the 36-year-old, but the Cubs are clearly still looking for more depth and/or experience in the bullpen. He’ll report to camp in short order, and try to impress in the last week of Spring Training.
Paul Maholm, the Cubs’ nominal 5th starter, gets the start against the Padres, and Jay Jackson gets the start against the Diamondbacks.
