The Cubs’ big hole started early behind, yes, Chris Volstad. One way or another, I think Volstad’s going to be taking a break from the rotation. He struggled through two innings tonight, and was relieved in the third by a modestly effective Casey Coleman. Michael Bowden had a decent outing, too.
But Blake Parker made his debut, and it was … mixed.
