Matt Garza had one bad inning, which took his otherwise dominant outing and made it a mere quality start. He loaded the bases on singles, and then barely missed his spot, walking in a run. The other run scored on a subsequent grounder, on which the Cubs couldn’t quite turn two.
The Cubs’ bats played like they were stuck in 1912 (sorry for the cheap throwback joke), and David DeJesus’s homer accounted for the only run. DeJesus, you’ll note, was batting third. At least Tony Campana keeps doing what Tony Campana does…
