Chicago Cubs to Sell 6-Game and 9-Game Ticket Packs for 2013, Starting January 23

cubs ticket packsLast year, the Chicago Cubs introduced a nine-game ticket pack, which allowed non-season ticket holders to grab a chunk of game tickets. Doing so ensured that those folks got at least two “premium” games, which they might not have otherwise been able to get as single game tickets (interleague match-ups, White Sox games, Cardinals games, certain weekend games, etc.).

The Cubs are doing that nine-game packs again this year, but they’re also adding a line of six-game packs, which selections each have a “theme” – for example, one of the six-game packs is called the “Bobblehead Pack,” because it includes four games that are Bobblehead giveaway days. You can see the full slate of six-game pack options here (though there appear to be some problems with the dates – several of the games shown are last year’s games; I assume this will be fixed shortly), and the full slate of nine-game pack options here.

I got myself a nine-game pack last year, which allowed me to take in a couple Cardinals games and the Friday Red Sox visit to Wrigley. From the look of things, they’ve made the nine-game packs much more convenient this year, allowing you to pick any two premium games, and then any seven of the other available listed games – makes it easier for out-of-towners to plan trips.

These packs go on sale January 23 at 10am CT, and there are no added service fees if you go with the pack option, so you can save some money this way (up to $40). The 12% city and county amusement tax – *cough* – still applies, however.

More details on each set of packs, from the official press release:

The Cubs 6-Game Pack

The Cubs 6-Game Pack provides a choice of six different pre-selected, six-game plans, with each option tailored to different fan interests. The Cubs 6-Game Pack is available in both the Budweiser Bleachers and the reserved seating bowl of Wrigley Field. Fans must order the same number of tickets for each of the six games in their package.
