CubsCon 2013 – Saturday Morning Update (With a Splash of Justin Upton)

Chicago Cubs

2013 cubs conventionAfter a great evening last night meeting BN’ers, other writers, and a handful of Cubs front office members (for the record, out of those three groups, I didn’t meet a single person I didn’t like – Cubs fans, writers, employees … they just tend to be good people), it’s time to hit up the panels today at CubsCon.

I hope to have some non-Convention coverage for you later today (discussing, for example, the Justin Upton rumor (Bruce Levine cites a couple sources who tell him the Cubs and D-Backs did discuss an Upton trade, but when the D-Backs pushed for Starlin Castro, the Cubs shut the talks down)), but the focus will be Convention stuff. The other bits might have to wait until tomorrow or Monday, with apologies.

The biggest Convention item today, from my perspective, is the unveiling of Wrigley renovation plans at 1:30, so you can expect something on that here later today. There’s also the Ricketts Family panel, the Executives panel, and some minor league stuff, too. It’ll be a day packed full of interesting stuff.

And, obviously, tons more tweeting (so follow BN on Twitter).

I’ll be rocking my maroon BN shirt today (and the loud yellow/blue shoes), so hopefully I can meet some more BN’ers.
