Starlin Castro Leaves Today’s Game with a Hamstring Issue

Chicago Cubs

scared baby[Yes, I am the awful husband who is working while his wife labors. Actually, she’s resting quite comfortably right now as things progress, and I’ve been granted full permission to update you on both her status, and Starlin Castro’s injury. Thanks for all of the kind words and well-wishes so far.]

Today’s Spring Training game between the Cubs and Dodgers is taking nearly as long as The Wife’s labor (no, but seriously, she’s a boss, and things are going very well so far), which is not, itself, noteworthy enough to draw me to the computer right now.

Starlin Castro leaving the game after coming up lame, however, is. Apparently Castro’s hamstring tightened up on him as he ran out a grounder, and he was immediately removed from the game. The training staff has been evaluating him, and it tentatively doesn’t sound terribly serious, but, well, paranoia.

You can imagine that Castro will see some time off, and it’s good that this happened earlier in Spring Training, rather than later. Hopefully it’s just a day-to-day, minor issue, and not a “mild” strain that keeps him out for a mysteriously long time. We’ll keep an eye on it, though this may be the last you hear from me for a little while.
